As many of you, who follow my youtube channel, instagram or facebook page may know that on 6/21/16 Corona, our broken blue mini rex doe, had her litter of 6. This being her first litter, I was hopeful enough to know that she would take care of her newly born babies. Well, that wasn't the case. I had a back up plan in case she decided she didn't want to be a mom. She chose not to. Well I waited at least 24 hours after she had kindled to see if the babies were being fed, which they weren't. I had decided to take it into my own hands. I wanted to save this litter and give them a chance at life. Well, the next day after birth I brought both mom and babies inside to try and nurse from her. I flipped her on her back and held her there, while the babies were nursing. It was a success. They are now 3 days old and are big and healthy. I am continuing to flip mom on her back and let babies nurse which is helping quite a lot. Hopefully by her second litter she'll know what she is doing.
